You need to think what was the style that you were given.Are you someone who has this knack for dressing up, looking good and making people look good? If you’re someone interested in Fashion trends, beauty hacks or someone people (your friends, colleagues or family) often refer to when they need tips on what to wear or ideas about makeup that matches their attire…

…then, starting a fashion blog or a lifestyle blog is a perfect choice for you! Through your blog, you can make a difference in the world of people wanting to look good and dress good (I often refer men fashion blogs to know what’s in trend and what would look good on me). Branded content creation serves several purposes: customer entertainment, stealth advertising and social engagement. Brands that excel at this take branded content a step further, making it a tool that bloggers and other online magazines can use for their websites.

Starting a fashion design career takes hard work and persistence. If you’re confident that you have what it takes to make it in the fashion world, set realistic expectations for your success. When you’re starting out in your fashion design career, expect to pay your dues in an entry-level position before you can work up to the job you really want. Make yourself as employable as possible. Put together a creative, appealing portfolio, and gain fashion design industry experience wherever you can. Don’t be afraid to start small. Think about the big picture, but start with an attainable goal. Be creative.

  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
